Tasting great

The results of the Great Taste Awards have been announced and we’d like to congratulate Dorset Cereals, Fudges, Olives Et Al and Blackacre Farm Eggs on winning awards; yes that’s right Blackacre won a Gold 1* for its eggs – they’re that good! Blackacre is in fact the first ever egg producer to win a Great Taste Award. Now who said ‘eggs is eggs’!

It’s been an exciting few weeks for Blackacre as in addition to its Great Taste Award, Blackacre eggs featured prominently on an episode of ITV’s ‘The 10 Mile menu’, with Phil ‘Tuffers’ Tufnell spotting the Blackacre promotion for Somerset County Cricket Club – his team saw that as a bit of an omen so they bought the eggs – they’d probably heard about the Great Taste Award as well! Nickie has been up in the big smoke, at the GBBF (Great British Beer Festival) not to be confused with the BFG (Big Friendly Giant) or BFF (Best Friends Forever)! Even though at the event there are apparently quite a few bearded BFGs and after sampling a few of the real ales available you can end up making lots of new BFFs! Nickie had a great time on the expedition with the guys from Badger beer and apart from a few sore heads they also came away with some great new ideas for Toby, Badger’s Head Brewer.

James.
